Why should I get the Covid-19 Vaccine or Booster?

Vaccines do more than protect you from COVID-19, they also protect everyone around you. The more people in a community who are immunized against COVID-19, the harder it is for the virus to spread. Vaccines approved in Canada have followed the same extensive testing as every other vaccine, and are proven to be effective in reducing virus transmission and severity of symptoms in people who do get the virus. Due to the steady emergence of new strains of Covid-19, the original 2 doses of the vaccine are no longer adequate to provide protection against the virus. Receiving the boosters will help ensure that you and your community remain safe.

APPOINTMENTS:

Good Health Family Medicine is now offering appointments via telehealth.  This can we done with virtual visits using the doxy.me platform or with telephone calls.  After an initial telehealth visit, if the doctor feels an in-office exam is needed, they will arrange for this.

Please note, these visits are booked at a specific time.  Like in-person appointments, the doctors try to be on time, but due to unforeseen circumstances, may be late.

If using VIRTUAL VISIT, after scheduling by calling the office, please click here for the consent form and further instructions.  If you are unsure how to use this, the staff at the clinic are more than happy to help explain.  If you are anticipating a prescription in your visit, we ask that you have the FAX number of the pharmacy of your choice.  If you cannot find the fax number, please try https://www.bcpharmacists.org/search-pharmacy

For all telehealth visits, we ask that you treat just as you would an in-office visit.  If using telephone, please be ready near your phone at the time of your appointment and the physician will call.  Please ensure you are in a quiet, private location so both yours and the physician’s full attention can be dedicated to the concerns at hand.  If you are driving, please pull over, again, so full attention can be given. It is possible the phone call may be from a blocked number, please be ready to answer.

IN-OFFICE APPOINTMENTS:

There are specific concerns/appointments which the staff have been instructed by the physicians to book directly as an in-office visit.  Staff will let you know if they feel a direct in-office visit is appropriate.  Please note for social distancing and decrease transmission of COVID 19, these are currently very limited.

You are requested that if you are booked for an in-office visit and have any symptoms the day of the visit (Fever, chills, new onset or worsening cough, sore throat, nasal symptoms, new onset aches and pains or new onset headache), that you call the office to let the staff know and they will reschedule the appointment or switch to a telehealth visit with the physician so your symptoms can be discussed.

When arriving for an in-office visit, please come into the office wearing your disposable mask.  Please note that if you have illness, you will not be allowed to enter the office, for the safety of the other patients, staff and physicians.  Again, your visit can be rescheduled or converted to a telehealth visit.

A new policy that only the patients (and one parent/caregiver for children and those who need assistance) is allowed in the doctors office.  We appreciate your respect for this policy.  If you have specific concerns or circumstances please call the office to discuss prior to your visit.

PRESCRIPTIONS:

In general, during this pandemic, prescriptions are faxed to the pharmacy of your choice after your telehealth visit.  Please contact your pharmacy and get their fax number as you will need that fax number each time you have a prescription refilled. Please be aware that it can take up to 4 hours to arrive at the pharmacy from our office (unless otherwise indicated by your physician).  After that, please call the pharmacy to see when it will be ready, as this is out of our control.

FORMS:

If you have a form that needs to be completed, please call the office to discuss if it can be done as a televisit or need to be in-office.  If a telehealth visit is booked, please email the form to ghfm@goodhealthmd.ca .  Please ensure if there is a portion for the patient to fill out and/or sign, this is completed, as it will be returned if not filled in.  This is essential to completing the form.

PLEASE ENSURE FORMS ARE IN PDF FORMAT, not a photo or different format, they will be returned if not .pdf.  For those with an iPhone, you can use the NOTES APP, and when clicking on the camera icon choose “SCAN DOCUMENT” and then after taking the picture save and email.  For ANDROID phones, GOOGLE DRIVE App has a scanning option, as well as the free Adobe App.  There are likely many other Apps for scanning on all devices but these are just some we have used, as long as the form come in PDF form.
